About Us

Founded in 2020, AB Sea Turtle Awareness is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to conserving sea turtles and their nesting habitats in Antigua and Barbuda. Our mission is to strengthen sea turtle conservation through hands-on fieldwork, community education, and proactive advocacy.

We patrol nesting beaches, protect nests, and conduct essential research to ensure these ancient mariners thrive for generations to come. By fostering awareness and inspiring action, we empower communities to become champions of marine conservation.

Our vision is a future where sea turtles thrive in healthy marine ecosystems, playing their vital role in maintaining nature’s balance. Through collaboration with local communities, stakeholders, and partners, we’re building a legacy of protection, respect, and celebration for sea turtles.

Beach Patrols & Nest Monitoring

Beach patrols are a cornerstone of our conservation work. During nesting season, our team actively surveys key beaches to identify sea turtle tracks, locate nests, and monitor nesting activity. These efforts allow us to collect essential data on sea turtle populations, nesting patterns, and habitat use.

Monitoring nests ensures their safety from natural threats and improves hatchling survival rates. When necessary, we carefully relocate vulnerable nests to more secure locations and provide support during hatchling releases to give them the best chance of reaching the ocean.

Through these dedicated patrols, we contribute to the long-term survival of sea turtles while building a deeper understanding of their behaviors and needs.

Awareness Programs

Our awareness programs aim to inspire and educate communities about the importance of sea turtle conservation. Through workshops, school visits, and community outreach events, we share knowledge about sea turtle behaviors, the threats they face, and how everyone can help protect them. By fostering understanding and encouraging action, we’re building a network of advocates dedicated to preserving these incredible creatures and their habitats.

Sea Turtle & Marine Life Rescue

AB Sea Turtle Awareness is ready to respond when sea turtles or other marine life are in distress. Whether it’s a stranded turtle, an entangled animal, or a marine creature caught in an unusual situation, our team is trained to act swiftly and effectively.

We collaborate with local authorities and partner organizations to rescue and rehabilitate injured wildlife, ensuring they receive the care needed to return safely to their natural environment. Every rescue is a step toward protecting vulnerable marine species and preserving the delicate balance of our ocean ecosystems.

Advocacy for Conservation and Collaboration

At AB Sea Turtle Awareness, we advocate for sustainable practices that balance social and economic activities with the preservation of biodiversity. We promote initiatives that protect nesting habitats and minimize environmental impacts by working closely with beachfront properties, developers, and local communities.

Our advocacy extends to supporting policies and practices that value marine ecosystems and the critical role sea turtles play within them. Through collaboration and education, we aim to create a culture of conservation where biodiversity is recognized as essential for both the environment and the livelihoods that depend on it.
